wedding shotDear Mose,

Happy 2-year anniversary sweetheart.  I remember the day so vividly.  It was a beautiful summer day in August of 2014 and I was smiling from ear to ear from the minute I opened my eyes that morning.  I was marrying the love of my life that afternoon and life was perfect!

As we prepared for this day, I specifically remember you being very much involved with the music we were going to dance to at our wedding.  Your love for music was just one of the many reasons why I was crazy about you.  Even 20 years later, you remembered songs that carried a moment in time for us.  Our first kiss (“Purple Rain” by Prince), the first time you told me you loved me (“I’ll Always Love You” by Taylor Dayne), our first broken heart that we gave each other (“Hold on to the Nights” by Richard Marx), our two wedding songs (because we couldn’t choose just one: “Me and You” by Kenny Chesney and “Bless the Broken Road” by Rascal Flatts), and every other song that we shared a little piece of our hearts with together.  You always told me that music must be what feelings sound like.  After your passing I couldn’t agree with you more.

Our love story reminded us of the movie, “The Notebook.”  In fact, I think we were both convinced somebody followed our lives from the time we were teens to now and wrote that movie about us.   You were my Noah and I was your Allie.  Although the ending wasn’t the same as ours, a part of me died with you the day you passed.

Notebook quote

As I celebrate this day with you in spirit, I hope you are beaming from above knowing that I followed the dream that you and I both envisioned for me before your passing.  It’s because of you that I finished my labor of love and it’s because of you that I write from the heart about how to be your best self.  You taught me to see the best in myself and others, and for that I am forever grateful.  You gave me a gift that I’ll always cherish until the day we meet again.

August 31st will always have a special place in my heart and I will always celebrate this day for what it symbolizes; the extraordinary love that we shared.

Thank you for writing the most amazing love story and allowing me to be your main character.

I’ll be seeing you………

Yours forever,

Hillary
